Google’s Android Doubles Its Market Share
comScore released their report on the state of the U.S. mobile market for the last quarter of 2009 and it shows that Androids market growth doesn’t show signs of slowing down.
While RIM is still the leader with a 41.6% market share, a 1% drop from September of 2009. Apple has gained slightly moving up from 24.1% to 25.3%. The exciting news for those of us following the growth of Google’s Android OS is the jump from 2.5% to 5.2%. If Android keeps doubling its market share it won’t be long before Google and Apple are battling it out for a top spot.
Despite recent price cuts which made their smartphones one of the cheapest on the market, the biggest loser this quarter was Palm down from 8.3% to 6.1% a 2.2 percentage point drop. Microsoft dropped on percentage point from 19% to 18% market share.

Best Car Charger?
I’ve been getting a lot of questions on what I think is the best car charger available. Personally I’ve been using this little guy for years.
I’ve been using the Belkin Micro USB Car Charger from the day I went Blackberry. This device comes complete with cigarette lighter/power outlet adapter, and a detachable, 3′ USB-to-iPod-adapter. Although the packaging states it supports iPods and iPhones, it has worked great with all my devices that charge using a USB port and cable. What’s nice, no matter if your device uses mini or micro USB the Belkin works.
With USB soon to be the standard among mobile and other devices it makes sense to invest a one time $25.99 for all your devices than it does to have a separate charger for each. While the USB nub itself is small and can be hard to get a grip on (I haven’t had a problem), according to other reviews it works like a charm and unless your moving it to and from different vehicles it shouldn’t be a problem. I leave it plugged in to the car DC adapter and simply change the cord according to my needs.
What’s Included
- Belkin Micro USB Car Charging Cable for Apple® iPhone
- Owner’s manual
Product Features
- Compatible with Apple iPod and iPhone
Micro USB interface for simple connectivity. Also compatible with any device that uses a USB cable for charging. - Plugs into your car’s DC adapter
Provides convenient charging on the go. - 3′ length
For optimal placement in your vehicle.
If you’re in the market for a car charger I highly recommend the Belkin Micro USB Car Charger. As always if you plan on ordering, please support DroidTalk by following our link when you make your purchase.
