Google Buzz is shaping up to be an interesting new way to share content with your Gmail friends and fellow Buzzards (Buzz Followers). Now along with sharing your Flicker, Twitter, Picasa, and youTube content you can share interesting blog posts with the “Buzz This” button.
Our new Google Buzz button now makes it possible for you to share DroidTalk articles with other Buzzards. In order for the “Buzz This” button to work you’ll need to make sure you’ve set up Google Reader and included that in your “Connected Sites” on Buzz. If you already had a Reader account before setting up Buzz, chances are that’s already set up for you.
Try it now: click “Buzz This.”
Happy buzzing!
If you have a blog you’d like to add a “Buzz This” button to follow the directions posted here from the developer.

Earlier this week we had the opportunity to speak with Tim Novikoff the developer of Flash of Genius: Sat Vocab, after speaking with Tim, I won’t lie, I was a little jazzed to give the program a try.
I’ve had a few days to play with Flash of Genius: SAT Vocab and I have to say it’s a great app not only for the youngins’ studying for the SAT but for anyone looking to build and strengthen their vocabulary.
There’s really not much to say about the app that Tim hasn’t already told us in his interview, quiet frankly Flash of Genius does everything that’s claimed and does it well. Once you open the app you’re taken to the FOG homescreen where you’re presented with a menu, giving you the choice to study, start a new quiz, see all words, see the top roots and preferences.

We reported to you yesterday that Motorola announced via their Facebook page that starting this week Droid users would start seeing the update to Android 2.1, well looks like that was a little premature on Motorola’s part.
According to Matt the forum manager over at the Motorola Owners’ Forum that announcement was a tad premature. Here’s what he had to say:

Well that was apparently clear as mud because he followed up with this:

People over on the owners’ forum are a tad bit upset and rightly so, the way this has been handle by both Motorola and Verizon is pathetic. Will Droid owners be getting the Android 2.1 update this week or not? No one really knows as all communication from Motorola and Verizon about the update has ceased flowing. What’s interesting is the fact that Motorola hasn’t updated their Facebook page to reflect the new information.
See what was supposed to come with the update after the jump Read more…

Today Google unveiled its real time status update addition to G-Mail named Buzz. Buzz much like Twitter allows users to update their status within G-Mail so that the world or the people they e-mail regularly know what they’re up to.
Google Buzz will auto-follow your frequent contacts, collect live updates from a your contacts and show not just direct messages but updates from Twitter and Google Reader. It doesn’t currently post outward; however, Google hints that Buzz may eventually make updates to Twitter and similar services in the future.
Buzz also aggregates media posts from Flickr, Picasa, and YouTube which are given special treatment and include special media browsers to view content without having to leave the existing environment. Read more…

comScore released their report on the state of the U.S. mobile market for the last quarter of 2009 and it shows that Androids market growth doesn’t show signs of slowing down.
While RIM is still the leader with a 41.6% market share, a 1% drop from September of 2009. Apple has gained slightly moving up from 24.1% to 25.3%. The exciting news for those of us following the growth of Google’s Android OS is the jump from 2.5% to 5.2%. If Android keeps doubling its market share it won’t be long before Google and Apple are battling it out for a top spot.
Despite recent price cuts which made their smartphones one of the cheapest on the market, the biggest loser this quarter was Palm down from 8.3% to 6.1% a 2.2 percentage point drop. Microsoft dropped on percentage point from 19% to 18% market share.

Earlier we told you about Flash Of Genius: SAT Vocab, the app that Apple threatened to pull from the Apple Store if the developer Tim Novikoff didn’t remove “Finalist in Google’s Android Developer’s Challenge” from the apps description. Over the weekend we had a chance to chat with Tim about his company and his app.
Flash of Genius LLC was founded by Tim a Cornell graduate student. Tim taught at Stuyvesant, the elite public high school in New York City, where he drew on his contacts to bring together the team that made Flash of Genius: SAT Vocab. Former colleagues and students from Stuyvesant wrote the content, including the simple definitions and edgy sentences that keep the user amused as they study. Read more…

We’re not usually concerned when someone buys a Nexus One, but when it’s the father of Linux Linus Torvalds the guy who self admittedly hates cell phones – “they are irritating and disturb you as you work or read or whatever – and a cellphone to me is just an opportunity to be irritated wherever you are. Which is not a good thing,” – well that’s news worthy.
Torvalds has owned a number of phones, including Google’s G1 device and ”one of the early China-only Motorola Linux phones,” before he finally broke down and bought one from the company’s web store. It took Google’s addition of multi-touch capabilities to the Nexus One to make that happen. He admits that his G1 was mostly used to play games while on long flights.
Torvalds’ loving it:
But I have to admit, the Nexus One is a winner. I wasn’t enthusiastic about buying a phone on the internet sight unseen, but the day it was reported that it finally had the pinch-to-zoom thing enabled, I decided to take the plunge. I’ve wanted to have a GPS unit for my car anyway, and I thought that google navigation might finally make a phone useful.
And it does. What a difference! I no longer feel like I’m dragging a phone with me “just in case” I would need to get in touch with somebody – now I’m having a useful (and admittedly pretty good-looking) gadget instead. The fact that you can use it as a phone too is kind of secondary.
Google couldn’t buy better advertising than having the father of Linux espouse the virtues of the Nexus One.
