MySpace Number One Social Application on Android

According to MySpace their mobile application is the number one downloaded social application in the Android Market and the third most popular Android application overall. MySpace attributes this success to the deep integration with the operating system.

Our deep integration with the Android platform is one of the reasons why we’ve seen a surge in usage. Unique to this app, we have three home screen widgets. One of them allows voice-enabled status updates. We also allow users to set MySpace photos as background wallpaper on their phone’s home screen. Close integration with the native Android camera contributes to the customized experience and makes it easy for MySpace users to take, upload and share pictures of their friends out having fun.

Shocking news indeed, I was under the impression that MySpace was dying on the vine and was only popular with bands and perverts, does anyone really still use MySpace?  Even more shocking is that MySpace is the fourth most popular mobile web destination according to a December 2009 Morgan Stanley report on The Mobile Internet.

It will be interesting to see if MySpace can hold-on to this title in next year.

Review: eBuddy for Android

signup

Are your chat friends scatter across the stratosphere?  Are you tired of having several chat applications open at once?  There’s a single app for that!

Scan to install

eBuddy for Android allows you to consolidate your AIM, Facebook, Google Talk, ICQ, MSN, My Space, Yahoo, and Hyves (whatever that is), in one convenient application. List management made easy: eBuddy combines all of your separate buddy lists into a single easy to manage list. You can add new buddies and organize your friends in groups or sort them by IM account. Set your status and personal message to let your friends know where you are and what you are doing.

eBuddy for Android runs in the background with little battery drain and includes audio or vibration notification for new messages and status updates in the Android status bar. eBuddy offers automatic reconnect if your internet or data connection is lost.  If you’re running out of screen real estate no need to worry once opened eBuddy remains in your status bar for easy access.

eBuddy is pretty close to being the best IM app for Android, I’d like to see the ability to change the color scheme and fonts, along with file and picture sharing in future updates. The only downfall I’ve found, if you need glasses for reading the small font and orange color scheme make it almost impossible to see what’s on the screen without your peepers.

All in all it’s a great all-in-one communications app, I highly recommend you download it today.
