Review: Slidescreen for Android

Slidescreen is a home-screen replacement application for Android that brings just about all your daily communication streams to a single home-screen of nine panels.

Separating the top 4 panels from the bottom 3 panels you’ll find one large sliding panel dedicated to date, time, weather, battery, signal and WiFi inidcators.  This is the applications namesake a slider that can be moved up and down to reveal and highlight each of the other panels.  In the top 4 you’ll find call history, SMS/MMS, G-mail, and calendar. The bottom 3 panels contain  Google Reader, Google Finance, and Twitter. Each of these information streams is given a color-coded section and shows new information as it comes in.

Slidescreen was designed to free you from the standard home-screen. SlideScreen gives you access to the information within the apps that you want. Tapping on any individual update, like a tweet or an email, takes you into the corresponding app (in this case, it might be Seesmic and Gmail), or you can just look at the homescreen and get the gist of what’s happening around you.
