Walmart Issues Statement: Will Not Carry the Nexus One
Begrudgingly we reported earlier today on the rumor floating around the net about the Nexus One showing up on Walmart’s website. We were as shocked as anyone to see the reports and read the claims carrier wide availability and $99 pricing. It took us quite some time to find the Walmart Nexus One site, we originally were going to report it as a hoax, once we discovered the live site, like other organizations we ran with the story.
Seems Walmart and their Let’s Talk partner slipped up! Spokesman Ravi Jariwala states:
“Due to a technical error, this item erroneously was displayed on our site. We’re working with our partner Let’s Talk to have it removed as quickly as possible. We have no plans to carry Nexus One in Walmart stores or online at Walmart.com at this time.”
So there you have it no Nexus One for Walmart. I wonder if this denial is the same type of denial that came from Andy Rubin when he unequivocally clearly stated that his company has no plans for any Android hardware. Remember this quote from CNET:
“Rubin said that it would make no sense for his company to “compete with its customers”.
Only time will tell whether Walmart’s Ravi Jariwala is being completely honest with us. As of this posting the Walmart Nexus One website is still live. As we said, only time will tell.
